Shelf Life & Storage
- Most vegetable carrier oils have a shelf life of approximately 6 to 24 months, depending on their fatty acid composition and level of refinement.
- Oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (such as rosehip, hemp seed, and pomegranate) typically have a shorter shelf life (6–12 months) and are more sensitive to oxidation.
- More stable oils (such as jojoba, olive, and macadamia) may last 12–24 months under proper conditions.
- Unrefined oils generally have a shorter shelf life but retain more natural compounds, while refined oils offer greater stability.
- Exposure to heat, light, and air accelerates oxidation and can lead to changes in scent, color, or texture.
